The French visual artist Coulet fashioned this lovely stock stone lithograph around 1910 for the Salle de l’Etoile (The Hall of Stars), in Saint-Etienne, near Paris. The open area would have featured the variety acts much like vaudeville bills in the U.S. Among the acts a film would be shown making this one of the earliest posters featuring film.
