After Sargent “Villa di Marlia,Lucca: A Fountain” circa 1910, 2019
$880.00
Original artwork by Peggy Kennedy.
From the Artist: “Before going to Venice to paint, I copied several watercolors by Sargent. As I had arranged to paint in several gardens, I did this one that had some classical elements similar to what I would find in Venice. I learned a lot from this painting including how he focused on an area with dappled light and water and contrasted the lighter pots and statues with dark foliage. The lemons were painted by first laying down a wash of yellow under the whole plant area and then painting the leaves as a solid mass around lemon shapes, adding some even darker tones later. So deft and unfussy an approach.”
