20th Century “Moon Sky” Suzani
“Suzani” means needlework, but to most collectors, the word has a more specific meaning: “suzani” is synonymous with the glorious embroideries of Uzbekistan, in Central Asia. In recent years, we’ve witnessed a remarkable revival of this old traditional art form.
Suzanis make incredible headboards, ottomans or other creative upholstery items, adding a one-of-a-kind touch that is sure to delight and impress.
Suzanis from the Pishkent region of Uzbekistan display these large medallions. This particular example has very fine silk stitching. The cloth it is embroidered on is not visible.
